FAQ’s
What’s the process?
Once you call, it’s simple. I come to the site for a consultation. A proposal is prepared which specifies all the work and the way it is to be done. At this point, you may choose to have preliminary drawings done. An agreement for the project is prepared which specifies a start and end date.
How long will it take?
Your agreement protects you by stating the expected amount of time, including a start and finish date.
How much will it cost?
Every project is an individual work of art custom created for each client. The unique elements involved in pricing are the scale of the work, the amount of detail, and the difficulty of execution (scaffolding, etc.) and the design fee for renderings is deductible from the mural purchase.
What type of paints and sealers do you use for your murals?
We view the earth’s resources with the long-term perspective that we are stewards of what is available today. So we use only water-based paints, either 100% acrylic or low VOC latex. It’s better on the environment, long lasting, and better for the client because it dries faster and has less odor. High use areas are sealed with FauxEffect’s Setcoat™️, Aqua Finishing Solution’s Aquagard™️, other high-quality acrylic or polyurethane depending on the requirements.
How do I pronounce those French words, and what do they mean?
Faux- (Foe) “fake” in painting, a surface painted to look like something else; leather, marble, wood, etc.
Trompe I’oeil- (Tromp loy) “to trick the eye” – work that creates the optical illusion that it really exists.
Marouflage- (Maru-flazh) The process of applying canvas directly to the wall or panel with adhesive (originally it was rabbit glue).
